WHAT'S IN MY TRAVEL MAKEUP BAG

As this post goes live, I'll be getting ready to go on a mini holiday for a couple of days - stay tuned for more information and maybe even a travel diary. Naturally, holidays are great but do you know what's not great? Packing. In my opinion, one of the hardest parts about packing is getting your makeup and toiletries right. There’s spillage to think of, space to conserve, and of course, the dreaded 100ml limit to worry about with your carry-on. So how do you get the balance right between packing what you need and avoiding overpacking?

I try and really strip back to the real basics when I go away, mainly because I don't want to spend valuable time rummaging through tonnes and tonnes of makeup in the mornings when I could instead be exploring. My day-to-day makeup products aren't overly fancy and I tend to recreate the same look because a) it's quick and easy and b) every time I try and experiment with makeup, I end up looking like I've got a black eye. Sticking to what I know is best.

For my base, I've packed the NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation because if I'm honest, it's the only foundation that's light enough for my pale skin at the moment. Everything else is far too summer friendly and the whole tanned face, ghostly hands comparison is just not cool with me. Anyway, apart from the shade, I really love this foundation because it has just the right amount of coverage to even out my skin tone and cover any blemishes without sitting on my skin and feeling heavy. For concealer, I've reached for my all-time favourite, absolute fail safe classic Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. This cult product never fails me and I have several stashed away as back-ups! No matter the season, I seem to always get a case of the ol' oily t-zone malarkey so I tend to keep a powder close to hand - this time I've gone for the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

Speaking of pale skin, my face is in desperate need for any sort of colour so I've been reaching for my most powerful blush & bronzer combo. I'm still super impressed with the H&M makeup range and this bronzer from them is so good. I also love that it doesn't have any shimmer so it also works as a 2 in 1 for contour too. Blush wise, you just can't beat NARS Orgasm - for the colour, but also the name. It just gives the most beautifully natural flush to your cheeks and really helps to lift my face. I'd never really been into highlight until I found this Mother of Pearl highlighter from Topshop. Despite the scary colour when in the pan, It gives such a subtle, naturally glowy look to the skin that I'm obsessed with. A little goes a long way with this stuff too which is always excellent!

As I mentioned before, eyeshadow - unless really subtle - is very hit or miss with me so I tend to steer clear to avoid any problems. In my book, a classic liner and mascara is all a girl needs so those will always come with me. I've used the Soap & Glory Supercat Liner for yonks and it always works. The intensity is great, the nib is super precise and I never have any issues with it transferring onto my eyelid - because that is seriously such a goddamn pain. Now, mascara, I couldn't live without the stuff. I got given a sample of the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara by Marc Jacobs and it is just life changing! SO. BLOODY. BRILLIANT. Separates, volumises, lengthens, no clumps... it just does it all.

Whittling down my lipstick collection to just my go-to nude was a real struggle but we got there in the end. The whole Bourjois Rouge Velvet The Lipstick collection is just brilliant, I wear pretty much every shade but the one I turn to over and over again is Hey Nude! It's such an easy shade to wear, goes with any makeup look and the application is always flawless which makes it really easy to touch up with on-the-go!

So there ya go, there's a sneak peek into what I'll be popping into my travel makeup bag! I hope you all have a great weekend and I'll catch you soon!
