MY UPDATED GALLERY WALL FT. DESENIO

Living in a rented flat can often leave people feeling quite stumped and a bit limited when it comes to decorating. That's certainly how I feel anyway. There have been copious mornings where all I've wanted to do with my day is to paint over our ugly slightly yellow tinted walls but unfortunately I'd get a bit (a lot) of trouble. So, the next best thing is to cover up said walls with lots of beautiful artwork. And that's where Desenio come in.

I've always been fascinated by art. Whilst my peers sighed and moaned at the prospect of taking the obligatory trip to the Tate, I was always so eager to spend hours trailing through galleries, wide eyed, discovering more artists and styles to admire. I've definitely inherited my love for art from my Dad; he's a man who loves all things design and art related, everything from furniture to sculpture, so I've spent a lot of my life lagging behind him in pop up design showrooms doing the rounds. So, thanks Dad, I owe ya for instilling some artistic vision in me.

Anyway, I've been dreaming of creating a gallery wall for months and months now. In fact, you can actually read a previous post where I discuss my plans here, but I was struggling to find the right prints and styles to work amongst one another. That's the thing, creating a gallery wall takes meticulous planning and dedication. I'd already collated a few prints over the years so I just needed to find prints that would fit with the rest of the theme.

I'd scoured online for hours and hours and sometimes found suitable things but they would all be ludicrously expensive. And despite thinking that artwork is definitely something to invest in, I’m always looking around for affordable art too because I have a tendency to change my mind a lot and I like to swap things around in a space to create a different mood. Desenio is perfect because their prints start from a ridiculously reasonable £2 - what a bloody bargain!

Every element of shopping with them, from choosing the prints to them arriving at my door, was so easy and seamless. Being a Scandi brand, their prints are naturally and effortlessly fashionable and they cover a wide variety of styles; typography, nature, minimal, fashion and even animals, to name just a few. No matter which room you're decorating or your own personal taste, there's no doubt to be a print to suit your space. You'll honestly be spoilt for choice.

The best part about shopping on the site is that they have a whole section dedicated to 'inspiration' where they've curated lots of different setups using their own prints. It's basically their own little Pinterest board and it was crucial to my pairing process because I was able to see which kind of prints, shapes and styles all complimented one another.

Dreamy, right?

I genuinely spent several hours scouring through every single page, whittling my choices down to 4 lovely prints and I couldn't be happier with the ones I chose. What made the process even easier was that, come checkout, I was able to just select the right size frames and colours to match each print. For someone like me, who is pretty damn rubbish with measurements, this was a real life saver. I went for standard black frames, varying in size, but they also have a variety of other options - I was definitely tempted by the gold frames!

The prints and frames arrived super quickly and were packaged really well, the prints came in a tube so there were no creases to smooth out which is usually such a pain. Automatic tick from me there. For such reasonable pieces, the quality of both the prints and frames are of such a high standard. I'd even compare the standard to the likes of Habitat and Oliver Bonas which is where some of my other prints are from. Bold statement I know, but also true.
