VALENTINES OR 'JUST BECAUSE' GIFT IDEAS
I have very mixed feelings about Valentine's Day.
I'm a true romantic at heart who loves old school romance and cries at Notting Hill every single time - I'm also just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to love her makes me sob a lot. However, I'm not a massive fan of the over hype that comes with Valentine's Day.
I won't lie; I do get giddy over receiving tulips (my flower of choice), I do spend the day gorging on Valentines chocolates and it's always nice to spend quality time with a loved one but despite all of that, I acknowledge that true love should be celebrated every day.
I don't like that Valentine's Day somehow seems to scrutinise people both in and out of a relationship. If you're single, you're often made to feel pretty damn shit about that fact - all hail GALentines Day. And if you're in a relationship, there's the added stress and pressure to 'make something extravagant' happen.
I can safely say that romantic, quality time together means a lot more than any material gifts and that thoughtfulness always outweighs any other factor, but for those looking for any last minute gift ideas for a special lady in their life, now or at any point in the future, here are my top picks:
A COFFEE TABLE BOOK
Coffee table books are not only aesthetically pleasing but they're so thoughtful and you can tailor them to a persons specific interests; whether that be fashion to cars, there's the perfect coffee table book for anyone.
THE 'ALTERNATIVE' FLOWER; A CACTI OR SUCCULENT
Flowers are always undeniably lovely but I always get a bit down when they die a week or so after receiving them. As an alternative, why not go for a cactus or a succulent? Not only are they SUPER trendy at the moment, they're low maintenance and last for much much longer than a bunch of flowers.
SPECIAL TEA / COFFEE / HOT CHOCOLATE TO DRINK IN ABOVE
The cute new mug needs to be filled with something... rather than PG Tips (no offence), why not find some delicious alternatives? Hot chocolate is always a winner in my book.
BREAKFAST IN BED
I loooooooove breakfast but I love breakfast in bed more. Warm up those croissants, squeeze some oranges and make the experience that extra bit more special with a proper tray. Dig in! P.S. You can deal with the crumbs another time......
No girl hates jewellery. Whether you want to go big or small, a nice piece of jewellery is always VEYR well received. Make sure you're careful with what you buy though, stick to styles and materials you know she'll love and wear frequently; jewellery isn't something to take a risk on. Tip: you could make a piece extra special by getting it engraved with a message or initials.
TICKETS / AN EXPERIENCE
Tickets / an experience will forever be my favourite gift and is one of the best ways to make lasting memories with your partner. Life can get in the way sometimes and it's easy to sometimes put your relationship on the back burner so whether it be a day out at the zoo or tickets to a gig, make sure to enjoy some quality time together!
If that fails, a MASSIVE kiss & cuddle always goes down a treat!
